How can I make my sunbird electric scooter faster?

by admin on August 31, 2010

I have a sunbird scooter that I bought for 200 dollars. However, its very slow tops out at 16 mph. It is electric so it may be tricky. Any suggestions?

Change the sprocket ratio on it…other than that, you’re pretty much outta luck

“electric scooter”
“faster”

ERROR. ERROR. DOES NOT COMPUTE. DANGER WILL ROBINSON.

Buy a Ferrari pick-up truck with good tie-downs.

Either switch out the electric motor with something more powerful or change the gearing. If it is direct drive, your only option is probably changing the motor. You could also put smaller wheels on it.

I see the motor is rated for 250 watts and 36V, you could probably add 18 volts to the motor without burning it out. 12V or 11. V would be better.
Connect a booster pack in series with the output after the controller, and use a toggle or momentary switch to your system.
Try a LiPo pack from hobby city
