do i need a license or tags or anything to ride an electric scooter in florida?

hi im 12yrs old and i want an electric scooter for christmas but i want to know if i need a special license or anything just to ride it around my block? i live in st.pete florida plz don’t answer with any links just a simple no or yes and how i can get it will do thx-maci

If it is under 50 cc then no, but if it is over that speed then you need a license.

That is a difficult question to answer as it is different from area to area. your best bet it to call city hall and ask, that’s what i did when i was your age and wanted a go-ped. Apparently it didnt matter that it was under 50cc or gas-operated, the city where i lived would not allow it legally. Calling saved me the trouble of buying the scooter and then later realizing that i cant use it legally.
