My brother has been accused of stealing and he’s under 18. He was hanging with another kid, which caused us problems more than one and we told our little brother to stop hanging with him, but he insists anyways. The kid that my little brother was hanging out with accused him for stealing. Stealing a brand new razor scooter, some cars that uses batteries and toys. They have no proof, so would them placing a report do them any good?
Can someone place a police report when accusing someone of stealing?

You can accuse anyone of theft — it will be investigated and a report filed. If the items stolen is worth enough money, it can be a greater charge. You better make sure your “friend” does not have a criminal background or gang affiliation — If your brother is listed as a co-conspirator, he will make the list of gang affiliated persons which could mean big trouble.
Who placing a report with who? If there is a person suspected of theft in a store, the store officials stop the person and recover the property and call police. If the thief was assisted by another – who even just acted as a lookout – then they both can be charged. In Texas, if they are 17 or older, they are charged in adult court.
If they stole something from your house, then you can call police but you must have proof – not just speculation.
The theft can be reported to the police who may then investigate. However, there are criminal penalties for false reporting.
