Depending on your state of residence, you may or may not need a license to operate a scooter. If a license is required, then you need a larger bike to handle the miles.
400 miles per week for say 75 weeks = 30,000 miles. Seriously doubt a scooter will go that many miles with rebuilding the top end several times. I had a 100 cc two stroke bike that died with about 11,000 miles on the odometer.
You need to research on your state’s DMV site to see what is required to operate a scooter. Frankly, you need at least a 250 cc machine or bigger to travel that many miles per week. Or buy two scooters. Ride one for say 6,000 miles, then switch. Tear down the first bike to inspect the ring gap and the piston to cylinder clearance. If ring gap is too big, replace the rings.
Depending on the roads, with a scooter you will need upwards of two hours to go to work. With a 250 cc machine you commute can be reduced to 50 to 60 minutes. You will be spending a lot of time commuting which will give you little time for school homework.
Seriously, this is not the best of ideas. Sorry, just how I see this issue.
Good Luck
