2010 Olympics For The Best Electric Scooters

by admin on July 3, 2010

Some of the parents in my neighborhood have been watching the 2010 Olympics together. It just so happens that several of our kids ride electric scooters together as well. Just recently, I got the idea of having a competition between the kids and the best electric scooters. The following is how I am setting it up.

We actually have 5 kids in our immediate neighborhood who ride electric scooters. We definitely need more competitors, so I am placing an advertisement in our local paper, in the classifieds section.

The event will be held at a local, vacant parking lot on a Saturday morning. Their will be a small entrance fee to cover the cost of the awards for the winners of the events. The top 3 finishers in the 3 events will recieve the following prizes:

1st place- A new “motorcycle” style helmet

2nd place- New knee pads

3rd place- new elbow pads

The competition will have two classes of participants. One class will be reserved for kids that are ages 8 years to 11 years of age. The maximum power for the scooters in that class will be 350 watts.

The second class will be reserved for kids that are ages 12 years to 14 years of age. The maximum power for the scooters in that class will be 750 watts.

Helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads are mandatory. We will have 6 adults supervising the events.

The 2010 Olympics for the best electric scooters will have these 3 events

Narrow Pontoons:

We will set up 10 pontoons in a direct line. The pontoons will be placed 12 feet apart. The competitors will weave through the pontoons, from left to right.

The winner will have the fastest time, AND will have knocked over the fewest pontoons.

Wide Pontoons:

The same as the first event, except the pontoons will be placed 15 feet apart. Winners will be determined in the same fashion as narrow pontoons.

Ramp Jumping For Distance

The younger age group will jump off a 12 inch ramp. The winners will be determined by who jumped the longest elapsed distance. The older kids will jump off a 16 inch ramp.

Hopefully, the 2010 Olympics for the best electric scooters will be a success! Stay tuned for further updates.
